Feature: Dolly Spartans

On March 31st, New York garage pop/indie rock group Dolly Spartans released their sophomore EP Time Sides With No One.

Dolly Spartans have been turning heads since the release of their debut, self-titled EP in 2014. Intended as a demo, the band first began by giving away the EP at their live performances. However, demand for the EP grew and the upon its release the EP ended up on the CMJ charts, and the Dolly Spartans were awarded Record of the Month and then Artist of the Month by Deli magazine.

However, in 2015 tragedy struck the group when the band’s guitarist Christopher Elmer died from a drug overdose. Fuelled by the loss, the band began work on their latest EP. Now available on the band’s bandcamp page, Time Side With No One is dedicated to Christopher Elmer. And proceeds from the sale of the EP will go to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

The Dolly Spartan’s music is an energetic compilation of the typical garage rock sounds with a sophisticated level of maturity. Check out “Hanging Out” from the EP below.
